Various Writings Related to Hang Gliding

By  John Wiseman

Sandia Sojourn -  After leaving Albuquerque, New Mexico 13 years ago, I return as a hang glider pilot with the goal of flying the spectacular Sandia Mountains.  From the November 2004 issue of Hang Gliding Magazine.

How Did I Get Into This? - Was it an intense desire to fly like a bird?  Was it a friend who talked non-stop about his wonderful experiences in the air?  In my case, the way to enlightenment was via random chance while vacationing halfway around the world.  Originally published in the December 2000 issue of Hang Gliding magazine.

Glider-Cam:  Amateur Television Flies on a Hang Glider - A description of a 439 MHz. live television transmitter for hang gliding that was described in the November 2000 issue of Hang Gliding magazine and the Spring 2000 issue of Amateur Television Quarterly.  A seminar on this subject was presented during the ATV forum at the 2001 Hamvention in Dayton, Ohio.

Hang Gliding at the Local Elementary School - Originally published in the January 2002 issue of Hang Gliding magazine, this article tells the story of what happened when I brought my glider and equipment to "Career & Hobby Day" at my son's school.

My First Thermal Flight - This is a rewrite of a short story that I had originally written for the Cloudbuster.  This version was published in the book "Hang Gliding Spectacular", edited by  Jim and Maggie Palmieri;  ISBN 0-9715642-0-5.

Soaring With Hawks - A brief description of the ultimate bird-watching experience; sharing a thermal with a pair of hawks over Ridgely, MD.

I was the editor of the Cloudbuster, the every-other-month newsletter for the Wind Riders Hang Gliding Club, for the year 2002.  More of my musings and photos can be found in the individual editions listed below -
